Founders

The Osteology Foundation was established in 2003 by Dr. Peter Geistlich and the company Geistlich Pharma AG in Switzerland.

Geistlich Pharma AG, the worldwide leader in regenerative dentistry, manufactures and markets regenerative materials such as Geistlich Bio-Oss® and Geistlich Bio-Gide®. As a specialist in regenerative therapies and committed to scientific research, the Geistlich company has always developed new products and surgical techniques in close cooperation with researchers and clinicians. Extensive research and clinical testing of its products, as well as practice-oriented training in clinical applications, has been a major focus of Geistlich Biomaterials since it entered the field of regeneration in the mid 1980s.

 

Why did Geistlich establish a Foundation?

The Osteology Foundation was created as a platform, bringing together clinical research with industry, to accelerate innovation and yield novel biomaterials. Through this, Geistlich participates in pioneering the frontiers of regenerative implantology and periodontology. Independent research is a challenge for a company, but provides an important impetus in stimulating new developments.
