Research and Publications
Since 2005 I am the chairman of the ETEP research group. This research group in aetiology and therapy of periodontal diseases is officially recognized and funded by the Spanish Government. It gathers more than 20 members of different levels (full and part-time faculty, full time researchers, postdoctoral fellows and PhD students). The total annual budget of the group is close to 500000 € (excluding salaries).
The main research lines are:
- Oral microbiology (biofilm biology, periodontal pathogens, bacterial genetic diversity)
- Bacterial host-interactions (specific interactions between P gingivalis and dendritic cells)
- Antimicrobial approaches in the treatment of gingivitis and periodontitis (antiseptics, antibiotics, lasers, etc.)
- Clinical trials in the efficacy of different periodontal regenerative approaches
- Clinical trials in the efficacy of different surgical protocols using dental implants
Is lecturing at:
