Reinhard Gruber received his PhD for his work on steroid hormones and bone remodeling. After a post-doctoral appointment at the Department of Rheumatology, he joined the Department of Oral Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna. He was Deputy Director of the Curriculum for Dental Medicine and coordinated a doctoral program entitled “Bone and joint regeneration”. He was a visiting scientist at the Bone Tissue Engineering Center at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and at the University of Michigan’s Dental School. He published 124 peer-reviewed articles (5/2015; h-index 24) and contributed to 12 book chapters. He can refer to 15 third-party funded research projects. He is Editor-in-Chief of the “International Journal of Stomatology and Occlusion Medicine” and in four editorial boards. He is a Board Member of the Osteology Foundation and the German Society of Osteology. Since 2012, Reinhard Gruber has been the Head of the Laboratory of Oral Cell Biology at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Bern. In October 2014, he became Full Professor for Oral Biology at the Medical University of Vienna.
