A young researcher network

The National Osteology Group Switzerland (NOG CH) officially launched its activities on Friday, 29 April 2022. The Leadership Team consisting of Alexandra Stähli (Berne), Stefan Bienz (Zurich), Norbert Cionca (Geneva) and Nadja Rohr (Basel) met in Berne with a selected group of young researchers and clinicians to initiate its networking and educational activities in the field of oral tissue regeneration.

The event was introduced by Anton Sculean (Berne), member of the Osteology Foundation Board and initiator of the NOG CH together with Ronald Jung (Zurich). He emphasised the need of young researchers in Switzerland to connect with their peers and therefore welcomed the primary distinctive feature of the NOG CH as a platform for networking and exchange.

A young but experienced Leadership Team at the helm

Besides this, various themes connected to research will be addressed in the 2022-2023 programme, in which renowned speakers will share their knowledge live, but also online through the webinars. Sculean’s introduction was followed by Daniel Buser’s (Berne) presentation about his own career path and personal advice for professional advancement. In his view, a successful academic career is based upon a good mentor, clinically relevant research projects as well as a reliable network of researcher friends. The Leadership Team then presented each research centre, its structure and research focus. The presentations were followed by a networking event, where participants had the opportunity to meet each other in a casual atmosphere. As Alexandra Stähli declared: “The aim of our group is to connect people of the four Swiss university schools of dental medicine online and in person!”

A Tour de Suisse for young researchers

A so-called “Tour de Suisse” is planned in each of the four research centres for the next 12 months, with the first meeting taking place in Geneva already on 24 June 2022!
