Osteology Research Academy in Lucerne – 29 new ORAlumni

It was already the 5th time that the Core Module of the Osteology Research Academy took place in Lucerne. 29 young researchers coming from 16 countries and from 5 continents attended the one-week intensive course on good scientific practice and research methodology, and gained a comprehensive overview on most of the aspects of pre-clinical and clinical studies required for their daily research work.

The Osteology Research Academy Courses consist of lectures, workshops and discussions with renowned experts in the field of oral tissue regeneration, as well as specialists in the field of statistics, animal research, ethics, and research design.

At the end of the one week course, the participants had the task to set up and present a hypothetical research project, which was then challenged and discussed by the experts. The participants used the Osteology Research Wizard for the first time for this purpose. It is an online tool, available on THE BOX, that guides the user step by step through the process of setting up a research project. It provides checklist, background information, and also links to relevant resources.

Many participants said that the workshop, and also the use of the Research Wizard, was very helpful for them, and that they have learned a lot for their daily work.

Another highlight of the course in Lucerne that was frequently mentioned by the participants, was the presentation of Professor Lang. He talked about his long research career, and gave a very personal speech about his experiences in this field.
