The latest Osteology-on-Tour has just come to an end – this time, taking the Foundation to Asia. The format brings a leading expert in oral regeneration to different countries for an intensive series of lectures, workshops and personal encounters with the local dental community.
Osteology Board Member Isabella Rocchietta embarked on an ambitious journey from Beijing via Xi’an, Nanning, Guangzhou and Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok. Along the way, the programme combined fruitful exchanges with universities on research projects, meetings with local thought leaders, in-depth lectures and tailored hands-on workshops.
Two particular highlights were the visits to university institutions in China. In Nanning, Isabella met Liao Hongbin, Dean of the Medical School and Acting Dean of the Dental School at Guangxi Medical University.
The visit also offered a glimpse into the university's new campus and its innovative training centre, where students work with AI-powered virtual patients –
reportedly the first of its kind in China.

In Guangzhou, Rocchietta met Zetao Chen, Associate Professor at the impressive Sun Yat-sen University Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in China, to discuss potential research collaborations.

In some of these regions, the tour also opened new ground for the Osteology Foundation. Yet one thing was consistent throughout: the enthusiasm. Participants appreciated not only the high-level professional training, but also the opportunity to meet and learn from an internationally recognised expert in such an approachable and engaging way.
