Scholar promoted to research associate

"Thanks to the Osteology Research Scholarship, I am now a research associate at the Department of Oral Surgery and Implantology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany", says Emilio Cafferata. After completing his studies in dentistry in his hometown Lima (Peru) and his PhD in dental science in Santiago (Chile), Emilio Cafferata embarked on his Osteology Research Scholarship journey in 2021.

He started his research endeavors in one of our research scholarship centres, Goethe University in Frankfurt (Germany). Under the guidance of his mentor Frank Schwarz, he has achieved an impressive number of publications in indexed journals in his research area of periodontal immunology.

Throughout the scholarship period, he was able to present his research findings at numerous prestigious national and international congresses. In 2023, he won the IADR Implantology Research Group Award for his work on the impact of peri-implantitis on neuroinflammation. After completing his scholarship, Emilio was offered a position as a research associate at the Department of Implantology at Goethe University in Frankfurt.

The Osteology Foundation provides one-year scholarships for young investigators to develop their career in the field of oral tissue regeneration. The goal is to offer scholars an outstanding environment and expertise in clinical and basic research. To accomplish this mission, the scholars work on a research project teaming up with their mentors in one of the Osteology Research Scholarship Centres.
