Farah Asa’ad

 

Farah Asa’ad received a Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry in 2006 and a Master’s degree in Periodontology in 2010, both from Jordan University of Science & Technology. In 2017, she received a PhD in Oral Sciences from the University of Milan, Italy. During the last year of her PhD studies, she was a visiting research scholar at Prof. William Giannobile’s lab, University of Michigan, USA. In 2018, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Odontology, University of Gothenburg, studying the relationship between epigenetics and peri-implant diseases. In 2019, she was the Osteology Research Scholar at the Department of Biomaterials, Institute of Clinical Sciences, University of Gothenburg, studying cell behaviour to different biomaterials. From 2020 until 2023, she was employed as a postdoctoral researcher at the same department. At present, Dr. Asa’ad is Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, and Head of the Department of Oral Biochemistry at the Institute of Odontology, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg.

Asa’ad is the author of more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters. She is the recipient of the prestigious (Henry M. Goldman) prize for best basic research, awarded by the Italian Society of Periodontology and Implantology (SIdP), and is a full member of the prestigious Sigma Xi: The Scientific Research Honor Society. Her research interests include: epigenetics in peri-implantitis and periodontitis, genetic polymorphisms in periodontitis, exosome-mediated cellular responses and applied biomaterials in bone & periodontal tissue regeneration.
