Isabella Schönhofen Manso

Isabella Schönhofen Manso is a dentist and Clinical Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, at the Centre for Oral Clinical Research (COCR). She obtained her DDS from the Universidade Federal de Pelotas (UFPel, Brazil), followed by a specialist degree in Implant Dentistry and an MSc in Periodontics. She completed her PhD in Implant Dentistry at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC, Brazil), where her doctoral research focused on the development and biological evaluation of biofunctionalised calcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite biomaterials for bone regeneration. Dr. Manso was an Osteology Research Scholar under the supervision of Professor Nikolaos Donos at Queen Mary University of London from 2023 to 2024, after which she was appointed an Honorary Clinical Research Fellow (2024-2027) at the COCR, contributing to clinical, imaging-based, and translational research in implant dentistry and periodontology. Her publications cover topics including periodontal and peri-implant regeneration, osteogenic bioassays, biofunctionalised bone substitute biomaterials, and the interaction between oral health and systemic conditions.
